Disneyland: Worthwhile or a Waste?

When I first entered the colorful green entrance of Disneyland, I expected an underwhelming view of screaming kids and strollertraffic all while sweating buckets. I was wrong. Even though this visit to Disneyland was my first, all aspects of the park made it seem like a familiar childhood memory.
I went to Disneyland with other students of the Hercules High School music program as part of a study trip. The itinerary included two days in the park and behind-the-scenes access to Disney’s music studio to sight read popular movie scores, such as the Marvel opening theme and the Tangled theme, and record it with profe
.ssional equipment.
The rides were all superb and unique pertaining to their respective themed areas of the park, and even if waiting in line sometimes became tedious, the implemented fast pass system allowed for maximum ride efficiency.
All the noticeable details around the park highlighted the rich history of Disney. For example, the implementation of all the hidden Mickey designs scattered amongst the architecture or the fact that Walt Disney himself held a private apartment above the fire station on Main Street, U.S.A.
Other than Disneyland’s overall perfection, there were quite a few underlying issues that irked me throughout the trip. One problem that every Disneyland goer will comment on at least once is how expensive souvenirs can be. A shirt worth $16 can have the price doubled just to bare the Disney logo on it.
On the other hand, I did find the low price of $10 for a turkey leg (that can feed a whole family) to be an essential purchase for everyone at Disneyland. Additionally, I’m salty that I never got to experience the Tower of Terror or the closed Grizzly River Run and Matterhorn.
In all, Disneyland provides a one of a kind experience and a perfect bonding opportunity with the ones you venture with. The escapist style scenery of the park and the joyful vibe never ceases to amaze me.
My opinion on Disneyland stands strong that it is a wonderful amusement park. With this in mind, I definitely recommend everyone should visit Disneyland at least once in their life, especially those with kids. In the magical words of Walt Disney, it’s the happiest place on Earth.
