Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Swim Team Prevail Over Saint Patrick Saint Vincent High

The boys’ and girls’ varsity swim team gave spectators a show as the boys dominated the meet 118-51, while the girls won after being neck and neck with St. Patrick's High School for the duration of the meet 87-83.

The boys placed first in every individual race and relay race. Hercules kept swimming at their best with no strong response from St. Patrick's.

Senior Juan Pablo Palabrica, a stand out swimmer of Hercules, demolished his opponents in each of his events, one of them being a victory in the 200 individual medley by a staggering seventeen seconds under second place.

“I put in the work every week, so when the meet comes around, I have an advantage over others,” Palabrica said, “I always strive to be the best at what I do.”

Palabrica also lead the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay to victory and won the open 100 breast.

For the girls it was a different story, filled with many gut-wrenching races, many of which looked too close to call with the naked eye.

Hercules and St. Patrick’s continued to battle as the teams seemed to take turns winning in each event.

The nail-biting match up persisted until the second to last event, the open 100 breast, where junior Ashley Pera of Hercules, placed first, solidifying the victory for the Hercules girls’ varsity.

Hercules proved they are a force to be reckoned with as the final league meet comes closer and closer on Friday April 29.
