Hercules Titans Set Richmond Oilers Aflame

The Hercules Titans girls varsity basketball team played off against the Richmond Oilers in a rematch game last Friday after crushing the Oilers last month.

The Oilers failed to take advantage of the opportunity however and faced another humiliating loss against the Titans 65-9 in a home game, thus solidifying an untarnished 8-0 league record.

With horse-powered speed, the Titans sprinted ahead, overwhelming the Oilers with a series of layups from posts Zamyris Howard and Tamera McNeil, all the while keeping the Oilers at bay for the entire game.

“They did well,” Girls varsity coach Krisey Sanders said,”[They] could have done better though. We still need to fine-tune some things.”

The game was one sided as the Titan’s continuously razed the Oilers defense resulting in a 11-0 score in the first quarter and this proved to just be a warm-up.

By the second quarter it was slip-up after slip-up for the Oilers after steals from Howard and Alyssa Wong.

All attempts by the Oilers to turn the game around were completely shut down by the Titans, and they only managed to score their first point during a free throw at the end of the second quarter. They were simply not on the Titans’ level.

Evidence of the Titans’ victory was visible since the beginning, after the Oilers fell in a 35-1 hole during the close of the first half.

In the end, the victor was obvious as the Richmond Oilers left silently, permitting the Titans to celebrate their easy win.
