Clubs Host 2nd Club Fair of the Year

On the final day of the academic first quarter, clubs of Hercules High took advantage of a minimum day and hosted their second Club Fair of the year

The goal of Club Fair, as always, is to provide an opportunity for the many clubs at Hercules High to raise money that will be saved for necessities.

Right after the final bell rang at 1:48, due to the minimum day, students exited their classrooms and were greeted in the quad by the 20 clubs that participated, who had representatives either walking around endorsing their food or stationed at a table selling the food.

Each club was given a table and assigned to a specific part of the quad, their table's location being determined by which club turned in their club forms first. Most, if not all, clubs made a hand-painted sign used to advertise what they were selling.

The food, consisting of both savory, such as pizza and wings, and sweet, such as ice cream and donuts, ranged from about $1 to $3, allowing students to find an enjoyable snack without having to break the bank.

There was a concern that rain would force students to move inside to the cafeteria which, in the past, has made it difficult to move around from table to table. The cafeteria can only hold about 700 people, so trying to fit the student body and the clubs into one building can be quite the challenge. Luckily, the sun was shining and the students could enjoy themselves without having to worry about the weather.

Overall, general feedback from club officials points to the event being a success.

“Club Fair is very important to our club,” said senior and president of the Cancer Research Club Claudia Lopez. “Our club is centered around donating money to cancer organizations, so getting the opportunity at Club Fair is a huge help.”

“We’re able to make a little bit more money in order to support ourselves,” said senior and president of Junior States of America Chiamaka Nwadike.

Future club fairs will be announced at a later time.
