First Club Fair Beats the Record

It has only been a week since Club Rush, but students leaders are back on the quad. This time, they’re armed with food.

On Sept. 16, Hercules High held the first Club Fair of the school year. Student organizations prepared food and drinks to sell after school. Students flooded the quad at the sound of the bell to see the assorted menu the clubs prepared. Items ranged from homemade banana bread to catered shaved ice.

Although this was the first club fair of the year, twenty-two clubs made an appearance on the quad, an impressive number compared to last year’s numbers which saw sixteen clubs at the peak of popularity.

“It was really great to see so many people advocate for their club,” Math and Science Society Treasurer Alexander Lin said. “I was really surprised about the turnout and I hope that this will continue for future club fairs.”

Despite that club fair has been a traditional event hosted by leadership and the large number of clubs making an appearance, not all students were familiar with the event.

“Lots of people didn’t actually know what it was,” Kiwins President Kristen Kho said. “We had to explain it to them first before they volunteered to help.”

Although the club fair turned out to be a success, the looming grey clouds throughout the evening made club leaders anxious about the possible rain which would follow.

“We were worried it was going to rain and nobody was going to come buy our food,” Chinese Culture Club Monica Chin said.

Yet mother nature was on the side of the clubs. The club saw the first drop fall just as they started to clean up.
