The Titans' Early Season Struggle

In the much anticipated “Titan Bowl,” the Kennedy-Fremont Titans defeated Hercules on the latter’s home turf under the Friday night lights with an anticlimactic 57-0 scoreline, handing the Titans their worst loss of the 2014 season.

Kennedy-Fremont (4-0) dominated on both sides of the ball, compiling 420 yards of offense compared to Hercules’s (1-3) minimal 60. Kennedy-Fremont especially controlled the run game, collecting more than 300 yards on the ground while utilizing seven different running backs. Junior R.B. Ryan Lord stole the show on offense, rushing for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.

Hercules’s offensive game was all but shut down, the team never able to enter field goal range. The offensive line allowed eight sacks, pushing it back a total of 39 yards. Hercules made it into the end zone, but the touchdown was called back after a holding penalty.

A crew from Comcast Hometown Network was on hand to record the game, which was aired Saturday, September 20th, at 9 p.m., one of eight games that will be featuring East Bay teams.

The following Saturday, Hercules played at Saint Mary’s and walked out with a 42-8 loss. St. Mary’s (5-0) easily handled Hercules (1-4), handing them their second loss in a row.

Hercules will play against a struggling St. Patricks-St. Vincents (0-4) team on October 3rd, 7PM. SPSV is coming off a 42-14 loss against the 4-0 John Swett.
